| 内容介绍 : | Kwan-yee, who has lost her husband in the war, endures much hardship in raising her son. Now a grown-up, Ho Chi-yuen is set to wed the rich heiress Lai-ting, who regards the mother with disdain and wants her expelled from the family. Not wishing to put Chi-yuen at odds with his wife, Kwan-yee leaves home to tread the uncertain and perilous path of life. Lai-ting indulges in merry-making and her negligence results in the death of their infant son from an acute illness. The distraught husband leaves home and makes a name for himself in the business world. One day, Chi -yuen's attention is captured by the sight of an elderly woman lying unconscious on the street, who turns out to be his sorely missed mother. Chi-yuen rushes her to hospital, joined by a reformed Lai-ting who volunteers to donate blood for the operation. Yet the transfusion fails to save the life of the mother, who dies with a smile and the final words urging the couple to patch up their marriage. |
