| 内容介绍 : | The first degree scholar Cheng Yin's son Yuen-wo falls head over heels for the famed courtesan Lee Sin of Qinhuai River. He squanders his days on the worldly pleasures in Fallen Fairy Tower with fellow scholar Fong Miu until he is reduced to the last penny. Expelled by the brothel owner, Yuen-wo ekes out a living by playing a mourning son at funerals. The father subjects the unfilial son to harsh beatings for bringing disgrace to his family and arranges for Lee to be taken as Deputy Minister Kam's concubine. Lee pokes her eyes and blinds herself to implore the aspiring yet lovelorn scholar to concentrate on his studies. Impressed by their devotion, Kam undertakes to fund Yuen-wo's passage to the capital and provide for Lee and Fong's maintenance, but his shrew wife has expelled the guests before the return of the imperial scholar. Cheng bars Lee from seeing Yuen-wo. Lee's sacrificial love touches a tender nerve with people far and near. Accompanied by Fong, Lee seeks treatment from the royal doctor when they have an encounter with the empress dowager. Lee is made a princess to be betrothed to the imperial scholar. The father is demoted to commoner status to penalise his vicious attempts to split up the lovers while Kam's wife is imprisoned in the imperial dungeon . (Quoted from DVD cover) |
