内容介绍 :	The story unfolds at a shabby school in a remote mountainous region during the "cultural revolution" (1966-1976). By chance, Lao Gan, a young man who has been working in the countryside for seven years, is honored when he finds out he will become "King of the Children", as a school teacher. Lao Gan falls at teaching junior high school students, and the schoolmaster blames his inadequency on the fact Lao himself is only a primary school graduate. Since there are no textbooks the students have to copy them, and without a good textbook Lao Gan's dictionary becomes the children's "Bible". Used to only reading theorectical texts, the students are unable to understand and write compositions, so Lao Gan teaches them the ABC's of composition writing. As the children become armed with knowledge, they grow more perplexed about the world. Finally Lao Gan is dismissed for not sticking to the prescribed teaching content, and returns to work as a farmer in the countryside. (quoted from Handbill)
