内容介绍 :	Pu Yi (1906-67) was the last Emperor of China in a line of 2500 years of Imperial Rule. At the age of two, Pu Yi ascended to the throne under the name of Emperor Xuan Tong during the chaotic final years of Manchu rule in the Qing Dynasty. By the age of six, he abdicated in favor of a republican form of government but was allowed to continue to live in the Imperial Palace in Beijing. After a second abortive reign of twelve days in 1917, Pu Yi eventually married Empress Wan Rong and was forced to leave the capital city under duress in 1924 to live in the Japanese concession at Tianjin . When Japan invaded and occupied Manchuria (Northeast China), Pu Yi was installed as ruler of the puppet state of Manchoukuo from 1932-45. At the end of World War II, Pu Yi was taken prisoner by the Russians and was returned to China five years later in 1950 to stand trial as a war criminal. After undergoing labor reform he was eventually pardoned in 1959 and met and married the commoner Li Shuxian. They lived together until Pu Yi's death in the early years of the Cultural Revolution in 1967. Veteran director, Li Han-chiang, beautifully recreates once again the period of the final years of the Qing Dynasty and Pu Yi's early life while concentrating of the last emperor's later years and his relationship with Li Shuxian.
