内容介绍 :	Weak-minded Hon Sheung is ill-treated by his stepmother Madam Ma, but he dares not resist. His uncle Hon Yu is sympathetic to him. Madam Ma plans a marriage between Sheung and his cousin Sau-yam. Under her plan, Sheung will be done away after the marriage so that she can own all of Hon's fortune. Her nephew, Ma Ling, will be her successor and will take over Sau-yam. One day, Madam Ma orders Sheung and Sau-yam to take a trip to the Green Dragon Temple. Sheung keeps a distance from Sau-yam , believing her to be Madam Ma's stooge. Inside the temple, Sheung has an urge to become a monk. When Madam Ma knows about his wish, she goes into a rage and whips Sheung. Sheung's father, Hon Po, tries to stop her but the tension is too much for his weak heart; he collapses and dies. Sheung is then forced into a marriage with Sau-yam. In the nuptial chamber, he sits crosslegged and chants sutra all night and disappears on the next day. Though Sau- yam knows that her husband has gone to the Green Dragon Temple and has undertaken a tonsure to lead a recluse life there, she keeps mute about his whereabouts after overhearing Madam Ma's conspiracy with Ling. A year has passed. It is now winter. Sau- yam, concerned about her husband's physical well being, goes to the temple with some winter clothes. Sheung now realises that Sau-yam's affections for him are genuine. When Sau-yam returns home, she runs into Madam Ma who demands that she marry Ling the next day. That night, Sau-yam flees to the temple, with Madam Ma and Ling chasing after her. They are about to kill Sheung when uncle Hon Yu arrives at the scene. Yu, now a judge, promptly delivers retribution to Madam Ma and Ling. Sheung returns to the secular world to be reunited with his wife Sau-yam. (Extracted from the film brochure.)
