内容介绍 :	Chung Sui-yau cannot get over his addiction to gambling. As he flees from a police chase after breaking up a street-side gambling gang, his leg is injured and he loses his job in the opera troupe. His master has given him an inherited prescription. Using the prescription, Sui-yau starts a clinic. But a patient pretends to be dead and claims compensation from him. Reduced to straitened circumstances, Sui-yau pawns his violin and opera costumes. Sui-yau obtains a loan from his master so that he can redeem his violin. But he gambles away the money. Sui-yau gains a loan from Lau Chau, a friend of Lee Chik and his future son-in-law, on condition that Sui-yau agrees to marry off his daughter, Ah-ying, to him, instead of to Lee. Sui-yau has a dream that night . He wins the sweepstakes but loses the ticket, and finally ends up in jail. Later, he manages to get back the ticket. Emerged as a rich guy, he forgets the grace and kindness of his old master and refuses to let his daughter marry Lee Chik. However, cunning Lau Chau and Ho Mei-mei, a social butterfly, cheat him of all his money. His wife collapses with sickness on the streets and dies, while his son is sent to an orphanage. Sui-yau himself is on the verge of death, while Chau and Mei-mei end up leading a miserable life. Waking up from his nightmare, Sui-yau realises his misdeeds. He decides to let his daughter marry Lee Chik, and resolves to quit gambling and turns over a new leaf. (Based on viewing of the film)
