内容介绍 :	Several families live in an old building. Ah Ping, whose father died when she was a child, now lives with her family, washing clothes for a living. Cheung Sang is a high-toned composer. There are also a few more unemployed musicians living under the same roof. Their biggest problem is how to get the money needed to pay their rent every month. Ah Ping is an obedient daughter who takes her mother's advice to change the name to Ah Ho and work with Ah Ling, daughter of Sixth Aunt, at Koo Pak-cheung's house. There, Ah Ping becomes more and more intimate with Ah Chiu, the driver. Another maid in the household, Ah Ngo, is separated from her husband Lo Hin because she has to find work in the city. One day, Hin comes to the city to look for Ah Ngo because a flood has inundated his village. With his wife's advance wage, Hin starts a shop selling dumplings. On his birthday, Pak-cheung fires Ah Ping because she has requested an advance to foot her mother's medical bills. Ah Chiu, seeing that Ah Ping has been dismissed, decides to leave as he has been offered a job as a teacher. Luck smiles on the couple, they win a sweepstake and invest the money in Hin's shop. In the meantime, Pak-cheung's son Choi-wah has reported his father's smuggling activities to the police. Pak-cheung is thus arrested and jailed. (Extracted from the film brochure.)
