内容介绍 : During an outing, young widow Pak So-ching comes to the aid of a young man Hui Sin, an herbal shop assistant, who collapses from exhaustion for carrying two basketfuls of wild herbs. So-ching and her maid, Siu-ching, take Hui Sin to their residence and nurse him back to health. Hui Sin stays the night after regaining consciousness, and a romance begins between him and So-ching. Hui Sin's boss, Wong Wing-cheung, demands compensation for the lost herbs. So-ching lends Hui Sin the money. Suspicion soon falls on Hui Sin on how he obtained the money, thus he asks So-ching to come forward and explain the matter. This triggers an accusation from So-ching's father-in-law that Hui Sin has seduced her daughter. So-ching is accordingly warned. Missing Hui Sin, So -ching goes to the herbal shop to visit Hui Sin on the excuse of buying medicine. But she has aroused the desire of Wing-cheung. Going against the advice of his sister and the yoke of feudalism, Hui Sin continues his romance with So- ching. So-ching also plans to help Hui Sin set up his own business with her own savings. However, So-ching's father-in-law, knowing their romance, forces her to accompany him back to the countryside. So-ching sends Siu-ching to arrange with Hui Sin for a meeting at her home, hoping that he can come up with a way out. The conversation is overheard by Wing-cheung who then locks Hui Sin in the kitchen, and goes to the Pak home to harass So-ching. Meanwhile, Hui Sin's brother-in-law Chan Biu also goes to So-ching's place to take advantage of her. Hui Sin breaks out of the kitchen and go to So-ching's home. Meanwhile, So-ching's father -in-law brings the police to arrest Hui Sin. Wing-cheung, Chan Biu and Hui Sin hide themselves, but all three men are found. Wing-cheung and Chan Biu talk their way out, and Hui Sin is the only one arrested , and is charged with raping a widow. Villagers ostracise So-ching as a scarlet woman. She requests in vain for a meeting with Hui Sin. Finally, a despondent So-ching and Siu-ching leave the feudal place. (Extracted from the film brochure.)
