内容介绍 :	Engineer Lo Siu-kong is transferred back to Hong Kong from Xinjiang, to look into a discovery of gold sand. He is happy to be reunited with his parents, sister See-fen, wife, Lang Yeuk-bing, and their son Siu- hong. His younger brother Siu-keung returns from Singapore, and is gradually drawn to sister-in-law Yeuk-bing, putting Yeuk-bing in an awkward position. Sau Yu-hoi seeks to monopolise the contracting works and proposes to offer a bribe to Siu-kong, but the latter refuses. On the night of the Mid-Autumn festival, Siu-kong is called away from the family reunion to go back to his office where a trap has been laid by Yu-hoi. An explosion occurs, leading to Siu-kong suffering a broken leg. As a result of this injury, Siu-kong becomes irascible and highly irritable. The family is affected: father becomes a reticent figure; mother suffers a relapse of her old illness. Siu- kong learns from sister See-fen that Yeuk-bing rejects Siu-keung's proposal to run away with him to Singapore. In order to help his brother achieve his aim, Siu-kong, taking his son with him, leaves home and leaves a letter behind. That night, a distressed Yeuk-bing also leaves home to search for her husband. With the help of worker Old Ching, Siu-kong finds work planning the building of a bridge. Later he meets sister See-fen, now working as a music teacher in the school where Siu-hong studies. He is told of the deaths of his parents. At this time, Yeuk-bing has become a prostitute. She meets Yu-hoi in the dance hall, who tricks her into marrying him after lying that Siu-kong has died. After graduation from university, Siu-hong works in his father's business. He is eventually abducted by Yu-hoi. Finally, Yu-hoi's criminal activities are brought to the notice of the authorities by Yeuk- bing in an effort to rescue her son. Yu-hoi is prosecuted by law. Siu-kong, Siu-hong, and Yeuk-bing are reunited. (Based on viewing of the film and newspaper articles.)
