内容介绍 :	After the war, Zhao Yixin, Chen Langfu and Liu Tian come to Hong Kong to make a living. They rent a room in a poverty-row district. Yixin is a young man of dedication. He finds work in an import and export company and writes novels for a newspaper. Langfu and Liu Tian work as hawkers. Staying in the room next door is Bingbing, a social butterfly secretly in love with Yixin. One day, a young woman Chen Bilan moves into an adjoining room. She has come from Guangzhou to find work in Hong Kong and is soon employed by an accounting company. Because Yixin and Bilan share intimate quarters, the two fall in love. An economic depression hits and both Yixin and Bilan lose their jobs. Yixin decides that he should go back to the mainland and apply himself to developing the country. He writes to a rich uncle in America, asking him to invest in a development project. Meanwhile, Langfu has been enticed into illegal activities and leaves the poverty-row district. After Langfu leaves, Yixin falls ill and money is required for an operation. To save Yixin, Bilan is about to become a prostitute only to be held back by Langfu who gets hold of the money by robbery. He gives himself up to the police but after handing the money to Bingbing. Yixin has recovered. His uncle replies from America, promising to invest. Finally, all the protagonists return to China to contribute themselves to the development of the country. (Extracted from synopsis of the film.)
