内容介绍 :	Hong Kong is occupied by the Japanese. Author Sau Tung, his wife Mang-ha, and daughter Yee-wah are unable to return to the Mainland, being watched closely by the enemy. One day, as Mang-ha and daughter are burning Ng Tung's anti-Japanese tracts , Japanese soldiers raid the house. To protect Yee-wah, Mang-ha is raped by the Japanese. Thereafter, the Sau family spend their days in misery. Sau Tung grows weak from illness and is unable to maintain the family, having to pawn away their possessions. Not willing to see her husband overwork himself and her daughter's education interrupted, Mang-ha works as a dance hostess by night. When father and daughter wake up deep in the night unable to find Mang-ha, they become suspicious. Sau Tung sees his wife walking hand in hand with a stranger. Upon coming home, Sau Tung castigates Mang-ha. Unable to bear it any longer, Mang-ha tells her husband the truth but ask him to conceal it from their daughter. But Yee-wah has already overheard every thing from west door. Sau Tung soon turns to drink and Yee-wah decides to stop her education and take a job. When Yee-wah's boyfriend, Siu-man, learns that her mother is a prostitute, he keeps his distance from Yee-wah and accuses her of tricking him into marriage. To end bringing embarrassment to the family, Mang-ha decides to leave home. Sau Tung comes to realise how his own plight adversely affects Yee-wah's happiness and eventually takes his own life by taking poison. (Extracted from a film review in Zhong Shan Daily, 1948/12/1.)
