内容介绍 :	Rich businessman Lee Po-fu is a great fan of the opera star and female impersonator Leng Suet-lin. Going backstage to show his appreciation to Leng, he comes across an altercation involving Leng's adopted brother Chan Sun-tong. Leng appeals to Lee to exert his influence and help bail Chan out of jail. As he is about to go abroad, Lee entrusts the task to his fourth wife, Leung Pik-wah. Pik-wah and Leng Suet-lin fall in love and she becomes pregnant with Leng's baby. Lee's nephew, Chiu Pan, divulges their secret love affair to his uncle. In a fit of jealous anger, Lee orders an attack on Leng in which acid is thrown on the actor's face. Leng flees, bringing with him his daughter, Siu-lin. Years pass. Siu- lin grows into a woman. It is wartime, and Leng and Siu-lin are forced to flee to Hong Kong. Pik-wah too has gone to Hong Kong but her husband and his nephew, Chiu Pan, are killed in the war. To make a living, Leng returns to the stage but his age lets him down and he falls ill. Siu-lin becomes a street singer without letting her father know. While performing on the streets, Siu-lin's singing leads her mother Pik-wah to them. However, not wishing to let Pik-wah see his scarred face, Leng hides away in a remote monastery to spend the rest of his life, leaving behind a note for Pik-wah. (Extracted from the film brochure.)
