内容介绍 : Duk-koo So-chau has lived with her widower father since her mother died when she was young. Her father arranges for her to marry the sickly noble of Mok's family. When her husband dies, So-chau withdraws into a hermetic existence. Knowing of her plight, the young Sheung-kun Kin-ching goes to visit So-chau, his cousin, on the orders of his mother, Lady Sheung-kun. The two cousins fall in love amidst the charming vistas of Pearl City. Kin-ching (who also goes by the nickname of Sixth Son) receives a letter from his mother asking him to bring So-chau back home. Lady Sheung-kun throws a party to receive So-chau at the Red Chamber. During the party, So-chau sees Kin-ching dancing intimately with Lau Mei-chu, daughter of the rich Lau family. So-chau falls into a deep depression and refuses to see Kin-ching for fear of being made fun of by Mei- chu. Upset, Kin-ching goes on a drinking binge and, under the influence of alcohol, makes love to Mei-chu. When Lady Sheung-kun learns of the news, she orders Kin-ching to marry Mei-chu. But Kin -ching plans to elope with So-chau instead. However, in order to maintain Kin-ching's good reputation, So-chau rejects Kin-ching. On his wedding day, the heart-broken So-chau collapses.
