内容介绍 :	Lu Jinglun is a wounded soldier sent by his father Lu Yueting to Java to recuperate. There, Jinglun makes friends with natives Gu Gao and Lotus. He falls in love with Lotus and soon the two exchange marriage vows. An angry Lu Yueting rushes to Java to try to undo the marriage. He bribes Lotus' father to abduct his own daughter. With Lotus' sudden dispearance, Jinglun believes that Lotus has run away with Gu Gao. A furious Jinglun thus returns to Hong Kong with his father. In fact, Gu Gao has rescued Lotus, upon hearing her cries for help. He brings Lotus to Hong Kong in search of her husband, surviving as street performers. They meet Lu Yueting who informs them that Jinglun has married his cousin. Broken-hearted, Lotus falls ill and returns to Java. After hearing the news, Jinglun travels to Java only to find Lotus catching her last breath of life. She dies in Jinglun's arms. (Extracted from a synopsis published in Wah Kiu Man Po, 1947/1/4).

备注 :	Director's comment: "I won't dare claim to give any message to the audience but I dare to gaurantee that I haven't inserted any poisonous elements in the story for the sake of money or fame I won' t push society into the path of vanity and lewdness or praise the power and influence of the feudal rich because I hope that my own children may enjoy peace and happiness" (Newspaper review "Entertainment Adviser: Love Song of the South Island", 1947) Film review: "The director's attitude is serious the only flaw is that not much thought has been given to the script Lo Dun's performance is that of a veteran's Wang Hao's performance as the lead character is not so clear or profound" This anti-feudal drama seems influenced by Dumas' Camellia even though it has a relatively new content and structure (Newspaper review by Shuo Hong, 1947)
