内容介绍 :	See Wan-ching is the master of Red House. His third sister and concubines are constantly at odds. Wan- ching, meanwhile, is hoarding medicine to push up prices, thus making it difficult for the poor to buy medicine. He also keeps another mistress in a separate house, and generally indulges in debauchery. His eldest son, Pak-kwun, objects to his father's activities but is unable to do anything about it. Lin Bing-zhen is a medical student whose wish is to build a hospital for the poor. He continuously sends anonymous letters to Wan-ching accusing him of his criminal activities. At the same time , he tries to convince Wan-ching's mistress, Law Sai-mung, to donate money to build the hospital. Sai-mung is eventually touched by Bing-zhen's sincerity to reform herself. Ho Lun is a teacher who loses his job because of illness . His wife Ah Ming finds a job as a maid in Wan-ching's house. Attracted to Ah Ming, Wan-ching wants to make her his fourth concubine, but she rejects the lascivious master. Consequently, Wan-ching hires thugs to beat up Lun and frames up a charge of theft against him. Ah Ming is thus forced into concubinage in order to rescue her husband. Upon his release, Lun seeks Bing-zhen's help. Having compiled a list of evidence against Wan-ching, Bing-zhen alerts the police. Hence, Wan-ching and his thugs are arrested. The hospital is finally built. Ho Lun, his wife, Pak-kwun, and Sai-mung contribute their services to the hospital. (Extracted from the film novel.)
