内容介绍 :	Yim-zhen is the eldest daughter of the Heung family. After her mother's death, her father marries Madam Ngan who bears him two children - Yim-chu and Yim-yuk. Madam Ngan, cruel and ruthless, takes over the family on the death of her husband. She virtually treats Yim-zhen as a slave, but pampers her own children. One day, Yim-zhen's cousin , Chung-leung, and his father return from the United States for a visit. Chung-leung and Yim-zhen are childhood sweethearts, but Madam Ngan eyes the fortune of the guests, and hopes to marry off Yim-chu to Chung-leung . Hence, she plots to keep Yim-zhen away from Chung-leung. With the help of a neighbour, the servant girl Ah To, the cobbler Fatso Leung and his old friend Tai Kai-man, Yim-zhen is able to meet Chung -leung during a party. However, Madam Ngan comes up with a plan to discredit Yim-zhen. She asks Yim-chu to plant a stolen diamond in her belongings. The plan works and Yim-zhen leaves in disgrace. Chung-leung then marries Yim-chu. After leaving home, Yim-zhen becomes a street singer. During a banquet in which Chung-leung is present, she sings out her sorrows. Recognising that he has done her wrong, the two lovers are reunited. (Extracted from the film brochure.)
