内容介绍 :	Hongling was sold into the Long family as an adopted daughter at a very young age, she is regarded as a maid. Local despot Second Master Long lords it over the Alley of No Sorrow. His maid Ling and her lover Liu Zhaofa act in defiance of Long's abominable behaviour. The flat in which Fa lives is the property of the Longs. The other occupants of the flat, who are from the grassroots, help one another, so they live harmoniously and happily together. Niu, one of the occupants, is in love with Yu -feng, whose brother and sister-in-law are greedy for money and want Feng to marry into a rich family as a concubine. Before long, under the pressure of being forced to marry another man, Feng commits suicide, which breaks Niu's heart . Long has always had an eye on Ling, so Mrs Lung is unhappy about this. Fa obtains the help of fellow villagers to redeem Hongling. On the day of their wedding, Fa is beaten up by thugs dispatched by Long and is crippled as a result . With the encouragement of Hongling and villagers, Liu is able to pull himself together and start anew.
