内容介绍 :	Man Pak- hei marries off his second daughter So-lin to Yeung Chiu-man, the son of his benefactor, Yeung Tai-shing. Tai-sing later dies during the war. His wife and son live together with their faithful servant Yeung Hing. Meanwhile, Man Pak-hei has grown rich by colluding with corrupt bureaucrats. Seeing that the Yeungs are on a decline, Pak-hei schemes against the family. Firstly, he frames the servant and has him imprisoned. Secondly, he falsely accuses a drunken Chiu- man of raping his eldest daughter So-mui. Chiu-man leaves. Pak-hei then forces So-lin to marry a bureaucrat's son Mak Kei-cheung. However, the sickly Kei-cheung dies all of a sudden in the bridal chamber. So-lin is regarded as a woman who brings bad luck, and is hence made to do labour work. One day, Chiu-man passes by the Mak house and sees So-lin. The two decide to run away to Hong Kong. Now that Hing is released from prison. He takes his revenge by killing Pak-hei and then flees to Hong Kong where he meets Chiu-man and So-lin. A co-tenant, Ho Bit-kwong overhears their conservation and learns about the real identity of So-lin. He then blackmails her. When Chiu-man is away from home, Bit-kwong seizes the opportunity to take liberties with So-lin. Chiu-man and Hing return in the nick of time to save her, but Hing is fatally wounded by Bit-kwong in a fight. As he runs away, Bit-kwong is knocked down by a car. At this time, news breaks out that Guangdong has been liberated and those who return will get their freedom. So- lin learns that her mother wants her to return home. Hing hears the new and dies with a smile. So-lin and Chiu-man begin their journey home. (Extracted from a newspaper synopsis.)
