内容介绍 :	Lau Cheung and the other four family members live a poor life in the squatter area. One day, they have nothing for meal and his son cries for hunger . His younger daughter needs to buy a new school bag and the rent collector comes for rent. Cheung's wife has to send the eldest daughter to ask her father who works as coolie for money to buy rice. Cheung's wife decides to send the eldest daughter to work in the factory so as to earn some money for the family but Lau Cheung disagrees. The warehouse at where Lau Cheung works is closed down. He becomes jobless and even unable to pay for his children's school fees. The eldest daughter cannot help and secretly runs away from school and goes to work in a factory. Lau and his wife do not understand and beat their eldest daughter up severely for her taking French leave. Later, Lau Cheung finds a job as a rickshaw driver but he gets imprisoned because a client leaves explosives on his rickshaw. Cheung's wife has acute pneumonia and has to be hospitalized. The three children decide to earn their own living. Later, the health situation of Cheung's wife becomes critical and everyone thinks that she is going to die, luckily she gets healed. Lau's hut is burnt by the rent collector and they have to take shelter on the street. When Cheung's wife is released from hospital, their neighbours has rebuilt a new hut for them out of their own pockets to thank Cheung for arresting the rent collector who sets fire to the huts.
