内容介绍 :	Tai-fook earns his living by selling firewood. He has two younger sisters, Ying-ngo and Ying-kiu. A rich boy, Chow Kwok-choi, proposes to marry Ying-ngo. Ying-ngo likes to see his brother Tai-fook get married first. A maid called Oi-wan is raped and is pregnant. She marries Tai-fook although Fook is ugly and has a humble origin. Ying-ngo then marries Kwok-choi. Oi-wan seduces Kwok -choi when Tai-fook is not around. This act makes Kwok-choi very upset. Kwok-choi passes the imperial examination and becomes the "Number One Scholar". He has to go to the capital to wait for the dispensation of office by the imperial court. A rich man, Chiu Tin-hung, is attracted by the beautiful Oi-wan. Immediately the two develop very intimate relations, for Oi-wan despises the poor Fook. A neighbor Siu-ngau informs Fook. Fook quarrels with Hung and is beaten up by him. Oi-wan uses deceptive means to settle the tumult. Hung does not want the case to be disclosed, so he forces Oi-wan and the matchmaker to join hands in poisoning Tai-fook. Fook dies an unnatural death. The ghost of Tai-fook appears in the dreams of his two younger sisters, informing them of his tragic death. The two are extremely sad. Ying-ngo is determined to avenge for her elder brother. She uses her martial skills to extort confessions from the matchmaker, who tells everything. When Ying-ngo appeals to the state official concerning his brother's tragic death, the official does not accept the case. Ying-ngo is even sued for using physical force to bring the foes to justice. Kwok-choi has become an imperial inspector and returns home in grandeur and honour. He is determined to arrange a retrial for the case. Hung threatens Kwok-choi through his influence. Judge Pao comes at the right time to assist Kwok-choi. In the end the whole truth is revealed. Those involving in the crime are thrown into jail for further sentencing. Ying-ngo has taken revenge for her elder brother.
