内容介绍 :	As an idler and a gambler, the eldest son Tso Kai-yuen is driven away from the family. His wife is thus assigned the task of managing the family finance, that arouses the jealousy of the second son Kai-kwong and his wife. The three often quarrel over money. Meanwhile, returning from his studies overseas for more than ten years, Tso Kai-man is shocked to learn that his eldest sister-in- law has been the sole breadwinner of his poverty-stricken family. He then actively prepares for setting up an experimental farm in Hong Kong. He is greatly admired by Ah Ying, a maid of Kai-yuen's wife, who accompanies her master during the wedding and has stayed ever since in the Tso's family. The two are congenial to each other. At the night when the whole family is worshipping the ancestors, Yuen comes back and insists upon dividing up the family's property. Kwong defaulted in total 20000 dollars of capital belonging to the store of his wife's family. The issue comes to light. Morever, Yuen's wife has taken the money originally used to pay for the rice to provide material assistance to Yuen. As a result people from the rice store rush to the Tso's family and attempt to kill. Extremely upset, the old master of the family eventually falls seriously ill . Ying pays in private a visit to Man's experimental farm in the New Territories. A sudden pouring of heavy rain hurts Man. Ying stays behind to look after him, they start loving each other. Man's father dismisses his studies in farming, claiming it will not do the family reputation any good, and opposes his love for maidservant Ying. The two elder sons have squandered away every nickel and dime. In the end, Kwong is forced to hide, Yuen and his wife ultimately commit suicide, one after another. The patriarch gives his sincere blessings to the lovers who remain filial to him while working industriously in running the farm.
