内容介绍 :	Kam Lo-dai appears to be a merchant; in fact, he is the head of beggars. He earns his living by begging and provides his daughter Yuk-lo with pretty clothes and good food. Kam meets the down-and-out scholar Mok Sui by chance, who is being accused of stealing. Kam save him from his difficulty, he also takes him home and supports his study. Appreciating the talents of Sui, Kam betroths to Sui Yuk-lo . Soon after their marriage, the imperial examination approaches, Kam pays for his trip to sit the imperial exam in the capital. Sui lives up to people's expectation and becomes the Number Three Scholar. He is appreciated by Minister Hui, who wants to take him as his son-in-law. Sui politely declines and goes back to his hometown rapidly. Having achieved honours, Sui retracts his pledge upon realising that Kam in fact begs for a living. Lo falls into the sea when she is chasing Sui, but Sui leaves her and goes away. Meanwhile, Lo is saved from drowning by Hui, who adopts her as his daughter. She learns from Hui that Sui is to marry his daughter. Yuk- no is fortunate to have been saved by Minster Hui, who adopts her as his daughter. Hui sets the stage for Yuk-lo to spank the unfaithful scholar who confesses to his infidelity. On the day when Sui thinks he is going to marry Hui's daughter , he is clubbed by the servants of the Hui family. He has to admit his mistake to Kam and Lo by walking three steps and kneeling one step. In the end, the father and daughter are magnanimous and forgive him. The family reunites.
