内容介绍 :	Scholar Kam Chung meets Wong Chui-kiu on his way to attending the imperial examination, they love each other dearly. Kiu has a secret marriage pact with Chung. Kiu falls victim to a ruffian Tin Man-chuen who had failed to woo her and take her as his concubine. In great rage, Chuen collaborates with a greedy official and makes false accusation against Kiu's father Wong Ho-kei. So Kiu seeks the assistance of her father's good friend Chou Tai-chung. Chuk Yu-Sum is the husband to the daughter of the Chief Minister of State. He helps Kei to redress the sentence in order to repay for the past kind deeds of Chou. Although the death sentence of Kei can be pardoned, 1000 taels are needed for redeeming him. Kiu drifts into prostitution and sells herself to get her father freed, she is redeemed by Sum. Sum's wife gets suspicious and jealous easily. She is bossy to Sum, bolstering by her father's power. Since Sum is weak in character, he dares not flare up. Kiu is being sold to the Chief Minister's Mansion, Sum's wife schemes to harm her on several occasions but she manages to escape each time, and flees back to her home village. ? Kiu meets both Chung and Sum who have come seeking for her. After the imperial examination, Chung goes to Wong's house to propose to marry Kiu, yet Kiu has already fallen in love with Sum. At that time Sum arrives, he receives a blow upon hearing the marriage bond between Chung and Kiu. Chung understands how Kiu feels. Having decided to help fulfilling the goals of Sum and Kiu, he leaves quietly. A sorrowful Kiu is stricken by her dilemma and opts to end her life.
