内容介绍 :	Before the Sino-Japanese war, Hoi-ling and Tai-ming are engaged. Ling's younger brother, Po-Nin, is seriously ill and Ming is forced to borrow money from a sinister gang. Ling does not want the gang to control Ming because of the debt, so she decides to marry a wealthy seventy-year-old man, Sau-nam. Without knowing the truth, Ming thinks that Ling is greedy for money, so he leaves for China to start a new life. Nam is an honourable man. Realising Ling's suffering, he marries her only in name. With the outbreak of war, Nam loses all his property and goes insane. Ling takes him to her parents' home. Her brother still despises Ling's greed for money and for leaving Ming. So Nin departs from home angrily and thereafter meets Ming again. With the end of the war and the death of Nam, Ling looks for news of Nin and Ming, and at the same time works very hard for a living. Twenty- odd years pass, Ling is now almost fifty. While Ming is at the peak of his career, he still loves Ling dearly. Incidentally, Ling works in Ming's mansion and meets him and his brother again. After learning about Ling's sacrifice in those hard days , both Ming and Nin feel ashamed. Finally, Ming and Ling become a devoted couple till the end of their lives.
