内容介绍 :	Following his parents' instructions , Ho-cheung, who comes from a rich family, marries Sau-ying when he is sixteen years old. Ying is eighteen years older than he and has given birth to two children, Chi-mei and Chi-fung. Cheung does not love Ying, he hates her. Finally, Cheung takes Yee-fun as his wife when he is studying in the city. Fan knows nothing about Ying until Ying comes to ask Cheung to return home, because his father is critically ill. Ying, who is understanding, is willing to have a divorce. But Fan has no intention to destroy another's family. Furthermore, she fails to gain the understanding of Cheung's parents. Though pregnant, Fan chooses to leave Cheung secretly and gloomily. After Fan's departure, Cheung's character undergoes great changes. He returns to the city, leads a debauched life, and cohabits with a woman. There is a big drought in the countryside and thieves and robbers are everywhere. Ying takes the whole family to the city to look for her husband. On the way, she is robbed of everything she has. Cheung's mother is unfortunate and dies. After experiencing great hardships, Ying and her children succeed in finding Cheung. But he only allows them to live in a storehouse. To earn her children's school fees, Ying works too hard and falls ill. She dies in the end. The two children hate and resent their father and prefer to flee to a distant place.
