内容介绍 :	Chiu Wing-chun seeks his fortune in the city where he befriends the courtesan Pak Ping. He gives in to a decadent life. Chiu's wife Yeung So-kuen undertakes the responsibility of looking after her father-in-law, Sai-leung, and her son, Kam-sang. She anticipates that Chun will return home after his studies and add to the glory of his ancestors. Not only does Chun ask his father for money to establish his own business, he even marries Ping. To satisfy Chun's demands, Leung sells his ancestral home and possessions. The whole family thus lives in poverty. Kuen writes to her husband but gets no response , she goes searching for her husband after losing her family in a diasaster. On the way, Leung falls critically ill. Kuen is forced to sell her son and use the money for medical fees and food. However, Leung's illness cannot be cured and he dies. Kuen's son is unwilling to leave his mother and secretly returns to her. Mother and son continue on their way. Chun has now become successful in his career, Kuen only to be denied by him. Despondent, Kuen dies on the streets.
