内容介绍 :	Chu Wai-yan has done favours for Tong Bo-fat. However, Tong is ungrateful and takes over Chu's factory and residence. Chu, unable to get any help, declares bankruptcy and moves into a wooden hut with his wife and daughter , Yan-yan. Chiu-Kwan, Chu's adopted son, works as a sailor and has just returned from a voyage. Among Chu's property, Chiu bids high for Yan-yan's piano, while someone known as Auntie takes Chu's portrait. The story goes back ten years, when Chu donated money to relieve a young man suffering hunger and cold. Five years later, the young man drew a portrait for Chu to repay his kindness. Before his death, the young man told the story to Auntie. When Auntie learned that Chu's family had fallen, she rushed to give a hand. Tong's son, Hin-lei, broke off his engagement to Yan-yan, but he had raped her. Upon hearing this, Yan-yan's mother dies of a heart attack. Chiu takes revenge against Hin-lei on behalf of Yan-yan but Tong falsely accuses him of blackmail and he is sentenced to two years in prison. A newspaper report about this upsets Chu and makes him distraught. Yan-yan tries to kill herself but Auntie stops her. In order to support her newly born child and her younger brothers and sisters, Yan-yan becomes a sing-song girl in a night club. Soon after his release, Chiu proposes to Yan-yan. At the time, Chu recovers and is home again. Hin-lei becomes impotent after a car accident and tries to steal Yan-yan's son. Auntie discovers this and returns the child. His boss swallows up all of Tong's businesses and he is sent to jail.
