内容介绍 :	A social-realist melodrama about a destitute journalist Chow Ping who is forced by circumstances to move to a poverty-row tenement. There, he meets Mrs Chan, clerk Yam Hoi-sang and his wife, driver Chiu Fai and his wife, and dance hall girl Mary Fong. Mrs. Chan has been abandoned by her well-off but unfilial children. Clerk Yam Hoi-sang is a slave for his wife who craves luxury. When this wife runs away with another man, Yam opts to end his life. Driver Chiu Fai loses his job when he intervenes on behalf of a colleague suffering injustice. As for Chow Ping, he falls in love with Mary Fong, but because of the latter's status as a dance hall girl, he dares not reveal his love. Finally, Chow Ping finds a job as an outstation journalist while Mary Fong decides to stay behind to bravely face life and its tribulations.
