内容介绍 :	Lau Man-ling who transforms herself from a country girl to a famous star. In short order, she becomes a rich man's wife, a social butterfly, a famous dance hall girl and a big star. But from there, she soon falls to the gutter, becoming a criminal, a beggar, a drifter and a prostitute. At her most wanton, Man-ling meets her suitors in the bathroom and swims in the sea in the nude. At her most luxurious, she burns a $500 note to light her cigarette. Her wardrobe is enough to open a boutique; her cosmetics are enough to stock half a chemist's shop. At her most vain, she spends tens of thousands of dollars to win the title of 'dance hall queen', hires dozens of artistes to coach her and an army of publicists to spread publicity on her. She views men as her playthings, marrying and divorcing at will, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on gifts for her lovers . She is not above betrayal and murder, conspiring with her lover to murder husband. In the end, she is redeemed. Realising her past mistakes, she returns to the countryside where she marries a cowherd, advocating conservation and promoting argricultural production.
