内容介绍 :	Nurse Lin is employed to look after old Mr. Gao Zongze in his countryside mansion. Because she strikingly resembles Mr. Gao's late daughter, Lingjuan, beloved of the old man, the matron persuades Nurse Lin to disguise as Miss Gao. The old man's mind is affected by grief but gradually recovers as he undergoes Lin's treatment. Nurse Lin gradually learns about the dark secrets of the Gao mansion. Lingjuan was in love with a music teacher Fang Qiufan. However, Lingjuan's cousin, Chen Yaotang, has an eye to inherit the Gao fortune and spreads malicious gossip to harm Fang Qiufan. One night, Yaotang informs the old man of a secret tryst between the lovers, resulting in the wounding of Qiufan. Later that night, Yaotang steals into Lingjuan's room, intending to rape her. In the struggle, Yaotang strangles Lingjuan to death. To cover his tracks, Yaotang and a servant girl, Sister Hui, hangs up Lingjuan's body on the beam to make it appear that Lingjuan has committed suicide. Qiufan returns to the mansion to investigate Lingjuan's death. He and Nurse Lin conspire a ghost-woman plot, whereby the spirit of Lingjuan returns to frighten Yaotang into a confession. A frightened Yaotang begs for pardon but as he and Hui attempt to escape, an oil lamp is knocked to the floor and a fire swamps all over the mansion. The guilty ones are burned to the death . As old Mr Gao realises the truth of his daughter's murder and as he watches his mansion burn, he throws himself into the fire. (Based on viewing the film and the film brochure.)
