内容介绍 :	Chow Kam-seung and Chow Kam-kau are stepsisters who bear each other no grudges . However, the stepmother Madam But dominates the family. She shows favouritism towards Kam-kau while treating Kam-seung as less than a servant. Madam But forces Kam-seung to marry the unscrupulous But Leung. Kam-kau's lover, Lai Kwong- hei, is a doctor who is called away on a trip. Seeing Kam-seung's ill treatment at the hands of the stepmother, Kam-kau pleads with But Leung for sympathy for her stepsister. However, a drunken But Leung rapes Kam-kau. She becomes pregnant and agrees to marry But Leung. Lai Kwong-hei returns and is distressed to learn of Kam-kau's marriage. His affections turn to Kam-seung and after a year, they agree to marry. Meanwhile, But Leung has squandered the family fortune and abandoned Kam-kau and daughter. He ends up in prison serving a ten-year sentence. Kam-kau hands over the daughter to her stepsister to bring up but Kwong-hei rebuffs her. Kam-kau decides to end her life by jumping into the river even when other protagonists pursue her in a vain attempt to stop her. (Extracted from the film brochure.)
