内容介绍 :	Ng Kei-cheong and his wife, Lee Wing-mui have no issue. Ng's mistress, Chan Siu-mei bears him a son, by name of Chiu-tsai. Siu-mei is taken into the home but the two wives do not get along. Kei-cheong is afraid of Wing-mui, and thus, Siu-mei leaves and goes to Hong Kong to start a life of her own. Kei-cheong is later killed by the Japanese during the war. Wing-mui and Chiu-tsai flee to safety. Wing-mui marries again and the family moves to Hong Kong where Chiu-tsai is forced by circumstances to enter the ranks of beggar children. Siu-mei is employed in the home of millionaire Tong Pak-lok and his wife Madam Wong. Hard-working and intelligent, Siu-mei is treated by Pak-lok as his own daughter and thus, he knows that Siu-mei misses her son. One day, Pak-lok sees Chiu-tsai begging on the streets. He brings the boy home. Seeing that the boy is distressed, Siu-mei talks to the boy and learns that he has a mother and a stepfather who mistreats her. Siu-mei goes to visit the boy's homeand sees Wing-mui. Siu-mei now realises that Chiu-tsai is her own son. Going home to explain to Chiu-tsai, the boy does not believe her . She asks the boy to go and find Wing-mui so that she will convince him. When Madam Wong returns,he is locked up. Finally, Siu-mei, Wing-mui, and a group of beggar kids, go to the Tonghome to demand the release of Chiu-tsai. Pak-lok returns hoem at this point and is told of what happened. He scolds his wife and releases the boy to his mother. Chiu-tsai asks Pak-lok to invest his money in a school for poor children. (Extracted from the film brochure.)
