内容介绍 :	Two sisters, Ah Yu and Ah Qiao come to Hong Kong from the countryside. They rely on cousin Wang Lina, a dance hall hostess for support. Lina's boss and lover, Taipan Feng, is attracted to the two women and sets about to seduce them into a life as dancers. Ah Qiao is hooked, while Ah Yu decides to become a woman worker in a factory earning honest wages. Under the direction of Taipan Feng, Ah Qiao changes her name to Hong Hong and makes her appearance as the "Beauty of the Southern Kingdom," to sing and dance her way to the top. A succession of male suitors falls at her feet. Ah Qiao eventually seduces Manager Ma and becomes his mistress. Ah Yu meets Ah Bing, from the same village, and they become close. Ah Bing works as a handyman in the dance hall where Ah Qiao is featured. Both he and Ah Yu worry about Ah Qiao. However, Ah Qiao turns a deaf ear to her friend's advice. When Manager Ma discovers that Ah Qiao is having an affair secretly with Taipan Feng and diverting his funds to Taipan Feng to clear gambling debts, he is enraged and leaves Ah Qiao. Taipan Feng, however, is only attracted to Ah Qiao's fortune and continues to have affairs with other women. Exploiting Ah Qiao's name, Taipan Feng makes a date to meet Ah Yu in a hotel, intending to take liberties with her. On discovering this, Ah Qiao misunderstands that it is Ah Yu who is attempting to snatch Feng away from her. Finally, Ah Qiao personally witnesses Feng's true nature as a philanderer. In a struggle ensues, Ah Qiao accidentally falls down the stairs and becomes a cripple. Ah Qiao is forsaken by her array of suitors and lovers. Only Ah Yu and Ah Bing help her through her hospitalisation and recuperation. With all her valuables pawned off, Ah Qiao returns to the stage to sing but is greeted by boos . Taipan Feng refuses to acknowledge her. Thus, she is relegated to singing in dingy eateries. She suffers further humiliation when she is recognised by a former suitor who goes on to mock her present state. Ah Qiao then seeks to end her life by jumping into the sea, but is stopped by Ah Yu and Ah Bing in time. Ah Qiao begins a new phase in her life. Encouraged by Ah Yu and Ah Bing, she changes her outlook to work for an honest living and serves the community. ( Based on viewing of the film.)
