内容介绍 : Scholar Liu Sheng admires Ah Xiu, who minds her father's grocery store. To get close to Ah Xiu, Liu Sheng constantly visits the store. They fall in love. Both pay worship to the image of the Fairy and privately speak the marriage vows . Discovering this, Liu Sheng's uncle tries to interrupt the liaison and lies to Liu Sheng, telling him that his mother has fallen ill and that he must rush home. Reaching home, Liu Sheng realises his uncle's scheme. He pretends to be ill, forcing his mother to agree to his marraige with Ah Xiu. But when the uncle goes to Ah Xiu's home to propose on the family's behalf, he learns that Ah Xiu has departed to the Zhao family, having agreed to marry the son. Hearing this, Liu Sheng goes broken-hearted to the image of the Fairy. Exhausted, he falls asleep and has a dream. He dreams that he and his servant, Liu Zhong, go travelling in search of Ah Xiu and meet her in a village. However, the girl they meet is not Ah Xiu but is a fairy who is the spitting image of Ah Xiu. Thinking that she is a ghost, both men scurry off and come across a masked bandit. As Liu Zhong struggles with the bandit, Liu Sheng escapes and meets the real Ah Xiu. He brings Ah Xiu home and exchanges marriage vows before Liu Sheng's mother. But that night, Ah Xiu disappears. At this point, Liu Sheng wakes up from his dream and goes off to prevent Ah Xiu from going to the Zhao family, in accordance with the instructions laid down by the Fairy. (Based on viewing the film)
