内容介绍 : Sung Yeung-ming, from a rich family, is married to Kwok Wai-chu. They have a daughter, Sung Ling-ling. However, Yeung-ming desires a son. His cousin, Ho So-hing devises a scheme with her mother to have Yeung-ming marry her as his second wife. The scheme comes to fruition one night as Yeung-ming is made drunk, and he wakes up the next morning with a sobbing So-hing beside him complaining that her modesty was invaded. After their marriage, So-hing has a liaison with ruffian Lee Biu, and has a son by him. Yeung-ming and his mother, thinking that the son is Yeung-ming's, bestow their favours on So-hing. Wai-chu, meanwhile, is ignored and falls ill. So-hing schemes with Lee whereby Lee Biu pretends he is a doctor who has Wai-chu quarantined on a false diagnosis of tuberculosis. On the advice of her good friend Sixth Aunt Chan, Wai-chu seeks a second opinion and only then does she know that she is not suffering from the disease. She goes home to complain to Yeung-ming but he stands on the side of So-hing. Wai-chu leaves home. Daughter Ling-ling then becomes the brunt of So-hing's hatred. She runs away one night to seek her mother but comes across Lee Biu and is kidnapped. Fortunately, this is discovered by Yeung-ming and he rescues Ling-ling. Knowing that her conspiracy has failed, So-hing goes into a mad scene where she tries to kill her own baby but cannot go through with it. Instead, she kills herself. As the protagonists rush into the room, they discover So-hing dead, leaving behind her baby. Wai-chu and Yeung-ming are reunited as a family. They bring up So-hing's baby and peace is restored in the family. (Extracted from film brochure.)
