内容介绍 : The reign of Emperor Du of the Sung dynasty is threatened by the invasion of the Mongols. The condition of the battleground is covered up by the prime minister Jia Sidao, as the Sung general Lu Wenhuan is left alone to defend the ground. The war has already lasted three years before the Emperor finds out the truth. The imperial secretary, Wen Tianxiang, wants the prime minister's head but the tables are turned when the prime minister makes his report to the Emperor and slanders Wen Tianxiang. Wen hides out under the pretext of indulging in wine and women but actually organises his loyalists to see to the country's defence. Soon, Lu Wenhuan surrenders to the Mongols and Jia Sidao has to command the army only to be defeated. Wen Tianxiang is recalled to the palace to become prime minister and takes up the command to fight the Mongol general Boyan. Boyan asks for Wen's surrender but the latter refuses. Defeated, Wen is escorted back to Beijing. On the way, he escapes with the help of a boatman Yu Yuanqing. At this time, rumours are spread about Wen Tianxiang being a Mongol spy but upon a plea to the nobility, Wen's name is cleared and again he leads the Song army to meet the Mongols. Wen has the first victory but is again defeated and kept prisoner for three years in the hope that he would surrender to the Mongol emperor. Finally, the Mongol emperor announces his execution.
