内容介绍 : After the war, Yip Ling and her sister Yip Siu- ling come to Hong Kong, hoping to seek for help from schoolmate Chan Ka-fen. However, Chan Ka-fen is away on her honeymoon. The two sisters can only rent a bed space for shelter. Siu-ling finds work as an illegal hawker. Once, as she flees from the police during a raid, Siu-ling is helped by a reporter Lam Fung. Learning that Lam is also looking for a place to stay, Siu-ling brings him to their apartment where Lam is introduced to her sister. Unfortunately their house collapses in a storm, and the three have to find temporary shelter in a squatter area. Lam and Yip Ling soon find that they are attracted to each other. One day, Yip Ling bumps into her schoolmate Chan Ka- fen and her husband, Manager Kam. Kam is attracted to Yip Ling and tries to seduce her on the pretext of interviewing her for a job. Yip is saved by the intervention of Ka-fen. Kam meanwhile is actively involved in land speculation and has his eyes on the squatter area. Lam Fung exposes Kam's conspiracy in the newspapers and helps to organise the residents against Kam. Undeterred, Kam employs Ah Shui to set the squatter area on fire but Ah Shui is arrested on the spot. While escaping from the clutches of the law, Manager Kam jumps to his death from a tall building. Against the strains of the song "Build Your Own House", the residents of the squatter area join hands in re-building their homes. (Extracted from the film handbill .)
